About Us

Promoting Africa

AKABI believes Africa as a nation has a great future and firstly promotes Africa as a viable sourcing region for production. AKABI was birthed to raise awareness of the great possibilities of trading with Africa and supports existing sustainable businesses presently in Kenya and Ghana through trade not just aid.

AKABI produces in both Kenya – sourcing and manufacturing AKABI organic cotton pieces, and Ghana to create great batik print work and for production. On top of this there is also manufacturing of recycled garments done in the UK.

The AKABI logo to the left used on the batik work is based on a West African Adinkra symbol Boa Me Na Me Mmoa Wo. This symbol means cooperation and interdependence and forms part of the foundation that AKABI stands on – working together.

The work AKABI does with the production units is encouraged to be a commercial opportunity that will create a benefit to both parties and to also develop partnerships. This also allows us to be innovative in our production whilst keeping traditional crafts alive and bringing it to new markets.

AKABI desires to display the beauty, talent and vibrancy of a new emerging Africa, to focus on the positives and not the negatives.
